Masmak, the mud-brick fortress where the unification of the kingdom began in 1902, the National Museum and the city’s souqs. At-Turaif in Diriyah, a UNESCO site and the birthplace of the first Saudi state, the restaurants of Bujairi Terrace, the Sky Bridge at Kingdom Centre, the mud village of Ushaiqer and the Edge of the World cliffs in the Tuwaiq mountains.
Best time to visit
November to February, with daytime highs around 20–25 °C. Spring and autumn are warm; summer days are hot, up to 45 °C.
Travel tips
Visit Diriyah towards the evening: after touring At-Turaif you can have dinner at Bujairi Terrace. The Edge of the World is reached by 4x4 on a dirt track, so bring good shoes and water. Many museums and souqs close during Friday prayers.
