The historic Al Balad district (UNESCO) with coral-stone houses and wooden roshan balconies, the Corniche with the King Fahd Fountain, the Floating Mosque, the Red Sea Museum and the Al Tayebat museum city. Nearby is the resort city of KAEC with its marina and beaches.
Best time to visit
November to March: warm, around 25–30 °C, with pleasant sea temperatures. Summers are hot and humid, above 38 °C by day.
Travel tips
Visit Al Balad towards evening, when the heat eases and the shops open. Wear clothes that cover shoulders and knees for mosques and the old town. Bring reef-safe sunscreen for snorkelling.
